University of Derby students visit Whatley quarry

A group of students studying minerals extraction degrees at the University of Derby visited Whatley quarry for a study tour organised jointly by the university and the Institute of Quarrying. They were shown around the production plant and taken to the furthest point of the extraction area, which has now pushed up to the western boundary.

Rob Donnelly, programme leader in mineral extractive technologies at the university said: "We very much appreciate the time and effort the Heidelberg Materials team put into this visit. It was a great experience for the students, most of whom will be following careers in the quarrying industry."
