Helping lay the foundations at Ketton Primary School

Ketton Primary School has firm foundations for its new shed thanks to a team of Heidelberg Materials volunteers.

The volunteers swapped their day jobs to prepare the ground for the arrival of concrete, which was supplied free of charge from our Market Harborough plant.

District operations manager Mick Walpole said: “The old shed at the school had stood straight on soil so had rotted away.

“This is just the sort of local community support that we are delighted to be involved with: using our essential building materials to provide a real benefit.”

The volunteers took advantage of the one paid day a year Heidelberg Materials offers its employees to support local community projects and activities.

The company also arrange for every pupil of the school to receive a branded water bottle, which have proved a big hit with pupils.

A letter written by members of the school’s council said: “We are writing to you to send a thank you for your kind donation of water bottles for every Ketton pupil. We are all forever grateful for this generous gift.”
