Shardlow quarry raise £1,500 for Macmillan cancer support

Shardlow quarry held a fundraising coffee morning on October, 2nd this year and monetary donations were received from our staff, visiting contractors staff, contractor companies, lorry drivers and everyday site visitors. "The total raised was £1000 and, having applied to the Heidelberg Materials UK charity match fund prior to this fundraising day taking place, an additional £500.00 was added giving us a grand total to present to Macmillan Cancer Support of £1,500," says quarry manager, Paul Lagram.

"I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated to this worthwhile cause to help in supporting people who are facing cancer."

"It’s a fact of life that we all know someone who has been, or is being, affected by cancer, which is why every penny that you gave goes directly to Macmillan Cancer support.

Macmillan tell us that the 2016 event raised £29.5 million across the uk. I hope that our contribution to the 2017 event will bring greater rewards."

"If I could shake the hand of every person that donated, I would, but there are just too many of you that I can’t remember you all, so I will just say a big personal thank you to everyone who donated money or cakes or assisted in any way to set the whole day up."

"You should all feel very proud of yourselves. Thanks again."

This is the second time the staff at Shardlow Quarry have taken part in this particular fundraising event.
